When to Schedule Your Newborn Photography Studio Session in OKC

The first two weeks are an emotional swing you can’t really prepare for. You’re tired, healing, adjusting, and completely in awe all at the same time. It’s beautiful and disorienting in a way that’s hard to explain unless you’ve been there.

That’s exactly why those early days deserve to be documented before they start to blur together. And this is why I care so much about preserving this season through newborn photography in my studio.

When Should You Book?

If you’re planning on booking maternity and newborn photography, I always recommend reaching out during your second trimester. That guarantees space on my calendar and allows us to thoughtfully plan both experiences.

Newborn sessions typically take place within the first two to three weeks after the baby arrives, when they’re still sleepy and love to be swaddled. But if your baby is a little older, please don’t stress. We adjust and move at your baby’s pace. There is no rushed energy here.

What Should You Wear?

Let’s talk about newborn photography outfits, because this is where many moms start to feel pressure.

Simple truly photographs best.

Soft neutrals, light earth tones, and gentle pastels are tones that won’t distract. Think texture over trend. Flowy dresses, cozy knits, pieces that allow you to sit comfortably and hold your baby naturally. I offer an entire wardrobe for mothers to choose from, so no need to stress if you can’t find something ahead of time. 

For babies, I provide a curated selection of wraps and simple studio pieces that photograph beautifully. A classic swaddle. A soft knit set. Sometimes even just a baby in a diaper wrapped in a textured blanket. And I’ll guide you through all of it so you never feel like you’re guessing.
