Behind the Lens: Assisting a Photographer Friend During a Newborn Session

As a friend, there's nothing more rewarding than being there to support your friends in their passions. Recently, I had the opportunity to assist my studio partner during her twin newborn session. Two babies means two photographers!

The preparation for the session began with creating beautiful sets for the precious moments to be captured. Soft blankets, gentle lighting, and a calming white noice set the stage for the sweetest session. My role involved ensuring that every detail was in place, from adjusting props to maintaining a peaceful atmosphere.

During the session, communication between my friend and me was key. Anticipating her needs and providing assistance without disrupting the delicate balance of the shoot required a keen sense of awareness. Whether it was helping to pose or adjust the babies to capture the perfect light or soothing the baby when needed.

One of the most heartwarming aspects was working together as a team to create the sweetest memories of these sweet babies. As I observed the careful composition of each shot and the patience required to capture the fleeting expressions of a newborn, I gained a newfound appreciation for the artistry behind newborn photography.

Comfort and safety were paramount throughout the session. Assisting with the careful posing of the newborn required a gentle touch and attention to detail. 

As the session concluded, I couldn't help but reflect on the collaborative effort that made it all possible. Working alongside my friend is always a lot of fun!  Getting to take my own shots and edit images for myself is also a treat! It was a day filled with laughter, shared accomplishments, and the satisfaction of contributing to the creation of timeless memories.
